Salem Blackman host National Park Service Fire School...
February 20-28 SBVFD will host the NPS Wildland Fire School. The class is full and has students from many regions attending.

Salem Blackman now owns the land for the New Station...
SBVFD has received final approval and taken ownership of the land for the new Headquarters Station. Construction will start in the next couple of weeks. 7-15-09

Salem Blackman passes Board of Zoning Appeals...
SBVFD has received approval to move forward with the new Headquarters Station. Final design is underway with our Engineers. Thanks to all the Commissioners and Boards for approval.

Salem Blackman receives Grant from National Park Service...
SBVFD has received a 17,000.00 grant from the National Park Service. The grant will be used to enhance firefighting operations in response to wildfires and our partnership with others.

Salem Blackman receives Grant from State Senator...
SBVFD has received a 2500.00 grant from State Senator Bill Ketron. The check was presented on March 19th to the Chief at the Rutherford County Courthouse. The grant will be used to enhance firefighting operations. The Department appreciates you for all the hard work and dedication that you do for us.

Salem Blackman receives Grant from State Representative...
SBVFD has received a 2500.00 grant from State Representative Donna Rowland. The check was presented on February 2 to the membership. The grant will be used to offset equipment expenses for our new fire gear and LDH hose program. The Membership greatly thank you for your help. 2-0

Salem Blackman launches LDH (Large Diameter Hose) Program...
SBVFD has placed LDH on Engine 2 to help send more water from a fire hydrant to the Engine when a higher fire flow is required. This will also help lower your ISO ratings as we grow. 1-0

Buy a Brick Program is coming......
        Watch for our "Fire Station" support project. You can purchase a brick scribed with your name or company name on it to be placed on the new Fire Station. 3-09

How to obtain a Permit for Outdoor Burning

Next required period begins OCTOBER 15!
        Burn permits are required under state law. Call 1-800-337-3157
           Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
           Permits are only issued by the State Forestry Office.
